Media Volunteers needed at Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta

Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta event organisers, The Royal Yachting Association, are seeking media volunteers to help at this years Regatta.

More than 1,000 spectators descended on the 2010 Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta and just one year out from London 2012 the buzz at this year?s event is set to be the biggest and best ever! This is your opportunity to get involved, as event organisers, The Royal Yachting Association, are seeking volunteers to help at this year?s Regatta.

Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta 2011 takes place between 5th-11th June at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, the host venue for London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic sailing regattas. Already firmly established as one of the world?s top Olympic Classes events, this year?s Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta is set to take on an even greater significance as the world?s best sailors battle for supremacy on the 2012 waters.

Volunteering opportunities are available within the event media team for the duration of the Regatta. Through the Regatta website and integrated technology, the event will deliver sailing to a global audience through tracking, live interactive blogs and live radio. We are actively seeking support in these areas to aid the successful delivery of the event to our fans, media and the public.

Specifically we are seeking

  • Assistant producer who will help run our live blog during the event
  • Course ?Tweeter?s? to send live race information back from the water. Please note these will need sailing experience
  • Sail for Gold Radio 87.7FM support which will be broadcast to the wider Weymouth area for the duration of the regatta
  • Video production support
  • Photography spotter

Sailing experience is preferable (and necessary for the course Tweeters) and relevant multimedia experience is necessary for the video and photography support. If you are interested please get in touch. Please contact Nicky Moore for more details.
